Liposomes consist of a 'phospholipid bi-layer structure. A 'phospholipid' is a type of lipid molecule composed of a head and a tail. When two of these molecules come together, they form a bilayer structure with their heads facing outward and their tails facing inward. 

  • A liposome is created when this bi-layer structure starts to form a close bubble when put in an aqueous solution. Active ingredients are then trapped inside this bubble.
